Tour Highlights

Dún Aonghasa

Our day begins with a visit to the magnificent Dún Aonghasa, the largest prehistoric stone fort on the Aran Islands. Perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the vast Atlantic Ocean, this ancient site offers breathtaking views and a deep sense of history. The fort’s massive dry-stone walls and chevaux-de-frise, a defensive band of jagged stones, are a testament to the ingenuity and resilience of its early inhabitants. Entry fee is included in the tour.

Shopping in Kilmurvey Craft Village

Next, we make our way to the charming Kilmurvey Craft Village. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to browse and shop for a wide range of locally made crafts. From intricately designed jewelry and traditional Aran knitwear to handcrafted pottery and unique souvenirs, there’s something for everyone. Supporting these local artisans not only provides you with beautiful mementos but also helps sustain the vibrant craft community of the Aran Islands.

Teach Nan Phaidi Cafe/Restaurant

Midday, we take a leisurely break at Teach Nan Phaidi Cafe/Restaurant. Nestled in a picturesque setting, this cozy cafe is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. While lunch is not included in the tour price, you’ll have the chance to purchase and enjoy a variety of delicious, locally inspired dishes. Savor the flavors of the island, from hearty soups and fresh salads to traditional baked goods, all made with love and local ingredients.

The Seven Churches

After lunch, we continue our journey to Na Seacht Teampaill (The Seven Churches), one of the island’s most revered monastic sites. This ancient complex, located in the village of Eoghanacht, has been a significant center of pilgrimage for centuries. Wander through the historic ruins, which include two main churches and several domestic buildings, and feel the spiritual presence that has drawn visitors for generations. The site offers a serene and contemplative atmosphere, perfect for reflecting on the island’s deep religious heritage.

Bungabhla

Our next stop is Bungabhla, the most westerly part of Inishmore. This unique location is renowned for its striking karst limestone pavement, a natural wonder that provides a dramatic and otherworldly landscape. Here, you can also enjoy a spectacular view of The North Light lighthouse, which stands as a beacon of safety and history. The rugged beauty of Bungabhla, combined with the panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, makes this a highlight of the tour.

The Seal Colony

We then visit the Seal Colony, a delightful spot where you can observe these fascinating marine mammals in their natural habitat. Watch as the seals bask on the rocky shore and play in the waters, creating a charming and picturesque scene. The colony is a wonderful place for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers, offering numerous opportunities to capture the beauty and behavior of these charismatic creatures.

Our Goat Farm and Visitor Centre

Finally, we return to our very own Goat Farm and Visitor Centre. Here, you’ll engage in an informative and interactive Q&A session about our cheese-making process. Learn about the traditional methods we use to craft our delicious cheeses, and enjoy a tasting session that highlights the unique flavors of our products. You’ll also have the chance to meet our friendly herd of goats, each with their own names and personalities.
